Contraception Options
Contraception options refer to any of the contraceptive methods, medication, or device that can be used to prevent pregnancy. Patients always ask about the "best" contraception or birth control option, and the answer is: "There is no best birth control method for any woman."
Certain factors come into play when choosing types of contraption available to you. The factors include the suitability of the option for the patient and her partner, the degree of effectiveness of the control method, the desire to get pregnant in the future, and adherence to the method. Below are two high-success-rate IUD contraception options that Dr Cilly administer, which can provide long-term contraception.
Mirena IUD
Mirena IUD or mirena hormonal intrauterine device is a device that is inserted in the uterus to release hormones that prevent sperm from fertilising an egg. The hormones also have the ability to reduce the lining of the uterus and suppress ovulation partially.
Mirena IUD can prevent pregnancy for up to five years, offering long-term birth control. During the Mirena insertion process, the patient may experience dizziness, cramping, fainting or a slower than normal heart rate.
These are normal reactions. After the procedure, the patient would have to consult with Latika once a month to ensure that the Mirena contraceptive device is in place and to check for any symptoms of infection.
Copper IUD
Copper IUD or ParaGard is a non-hormonal intrauterine device that is inserted into the uterus to produce an inflammatory reaction that is toxic to sperm and eggs. Copper IUD insertion can prevent pregnancy for up to ten years.
If you choose this option, Dr Cilly will layout the process for the procedure, and what to expect, before, during, and after the procedure. The device can be removed from the uterus whenever you want.
